Business Enterprises at University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd offers the services of the National Hub for Energy Efficiency and Demand-Side Management (EEDSM Hub). The Hub is a research centre of excellence funded by the South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI). This Hub focuses on energy efficiency and demand-side management-related practical energy saving problems, energy efficiency improvement research, education and market transformation.

The EEDSM Hub is a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Minerals and Energy (DME). The Hub was launched in March 2008 and is hosted at the Centre of New Energy Systems (CNES) at the University of Pretoria. To date, the Hub has completed a wide range of EEDSM energy projects.
